Quixel Bridge is back! Claim all the assets on Bridge

December 2, 2024

Hi everyone 👋

There has been some confusion around recent changes to Fab and Quixel Bridge, in this letter we will clear it up.

You can right now claim all 18,000+ Quixel assets for use in the future on Bridge, just go on the Quixel Bridge Homepage and select CLAIM NOW at the top. You will then get all assets and be able to use them going into the future.

This is separate from claiming Quixel assets on Fab which is a different library. If you haven’t already, I suggest you claim on both Quixel Bridge and Fab.

Quixel Bridge is getting a claim button because a lot of developers do not like Fab, since Fab has a lot less options for their assets compared to Quixel Bridge. While Fab is being worked on to make it more like Bridge, it is still missing a lot of essential features.

When Fab released, Epic Games prevented users from using Quixel Bridge in an attempt to move everyone over to the new marketplace. This caused a stir in the community and it was inconvenient for developers. Epic Games acknowledges that this was a mistake and reactivated Bridge in a recent blog post. Now you can either get Megascan assets from Bridge or Fab depending on your personal preference.

It is important to note that there is some variation between Fab and Bridge Megascans. For the release of Fab, the Quixel team took the opportunity to update many of the assets to make them conform to modern standards. If you want the old assets you can get them in Bridge and Epic Games is referring to them as Legacy Megascans.

In the future Bridge will be retired and completely replaced with Fab once Fab’s features are on parity with Bridge’s.

Make sure to claim Megascan assets on Bridge and Fab because you will no longer be able to starting December 31st!

In other news Epic Games has just released the Mutable Sample you can download now on Fab. In it you will learn how to use the new Mutable plugin introduced in UE5.5 to create player driven customizable characters. Before the Mutable plugin, allowing the player to change different parts of the character was a technical process. Now the new system makes it significantly easier and we get new clothes for Metahumans.
